Tehran (ISNA) – "Iran's missile program is a defensive plan, based on the needs of our country," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qassemi said, reacting to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's recent allegation that Iran's missile tests violate UN Security Council resolution 2231.
In a Sunday statement, Qassemi underlined that Iran's missile program is defensive in nature and has been drawn up based on the country's needs.
"No resolution passed in the Security Council, has banned Iran's missile tests or program," he stressed.
Speaking directly to the US secretary of state, Qassemi said," It's interesting and ridiculous that you refer to a resolution that not only you have violated by unilaterally and illegally withdrawing from the JCPOA, but also you urge others to breach it, and even threaten to punish or slap sanctions on them if they implement the agreement".
