Tehran (ISNA) – Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi met with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on the sidelines of the third EU-Iran High-Level Seminar on 'International Nuclear Cooperation' in Brussels.
During the meeting, the officials discussed 2015 nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), US illegal sanctions against Iran including the ones imposed on Iran's nuclear safety center and companies that providing radiopharmaceuticals.
At the head of a high-ranking delegation, AEOI chief traveled to Brussels on Sunday to attend the third EU-Iran High-Level Seminar on 'International Nuclear Cooperation' on November 26 and 27.
In an interview with Reuters, Salehi said he had warned Mogherini that Iranian patience was running out on the bloc's pledges to keep up oil trade with Iran in the face of US sanctions.
He said, "The EU's efforts are encouraging but we have not yet seen any tangible results".
"So, the Europeans are promising us that they are doing their best to be able to translate all that they have said in political terms and to turn it into realization, in other words, to materialize what they have said," Salehi added.
Salehi stressed that Iran could resume enriching uranium to 20 percent purity if it fails to see the economic benefit of the 2015 deal that curbed its nuclear program.
Mogherini, for her part, said she and Salehi voiced commitment to safeguarding the nuclear accord.
"They equally expressed their determination to preserve the nuclear agreement as a matter of respecting international agreements and a key pillar for European and regional security," Mogherini's office said in a statement.
