Iran to add new submarines, destroyer to army fleet
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Nov 28, IRNA -- Iran's Minister of Defense and Armed Forces said on Wednesday new submarines as well as a destroyer will soon join the country's navy.
Congratulating the country's Navy Day and Basij (volunteer forces) Week, Amir Hatami told journalists two Ghadir-class submarines and one Jamaran-class Sahand destroyer will join Iran's navy fleet on Thursday and Saturday respectively.
'All the three vessels are very valuable. Ghadir-class submarines are equipped with a variety of weapons, capable of launching subsurface-to-surface missiles, torpedoes and mines,' the Iranian minister added.
Hatami said weapons, radars and missiles on Sahand destroyer have been upgraded.
The three vessels will make Iran's navy more powerful, he added.
