Iran to rapidly pass through sanctions: Defense minister

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Nov 20, IRNA -- Today's conditions in the country are better than the pre-sanctions era, and Iran will breeze through the fresh sanctions which went into effect from November 5, Iranian defense minister said here on Tuesday.

Iran, by relying on its indigenous capabilities, will prevail over the sanctions conditions, Brigadier General Amir Hatami said at a local ceremony in Iranian capital.

Enemy tries to prevent Iran using domestic resources; however, "We see that the great works are being done in the country day by day," General Hatami said.

Referring to the US anti-Iran measures, he said that Washington has been isolated in the world.

He went on to say that they [the American officials] were to form a coalition against Iran but no one joined it as the world's conscience has aroused today.

Despite the world's criticism over Washington's anti-Iran measures, US President Donald Trump reinstated unilateral sanctions on Tehran on November 5 and imposed as he claimed the "highest level" of economic bans on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Most observers believe that sanctioning Iran's oil for a long-term period will hike up the oil price and weaken [US] dollar in the international arenas, which will ultimately lead to the US defeat and its withdrawal from its unilateral decisions.
