Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qassemi announced the ambassador of Denmark has been recalled to the Iranian Foreign Ministry to receive Tehran's protest over his country's allegations that Iran was plotting an assassination on the Danish soil.

"On Wednesday, the Danish ambassador in Tehran had a meeting with the director general for European affairs at the Foreign Ministry during which Iran's strong protest was conveyed to the ambassador over the hasty political reaction of some Danish politicians and media to the detention of a man with Norwegian and Iranian citizenships on suspicion of plotting an assassination of an individual in Denmark," Qassemi said.

"The director general for European affairs at the Foreign Ministry has strongly rejected the allegations raised by Denmark that Tehran has plotted an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate an opposition figure in the European country and slammed the move as part of the conspiracies and plots of the enemies of Iran who cannot stand the good and growing relations between Tehran and Europe in the current special situation," he added.

"The Danish ambassador has been also reminded of the necessity for calculated and wise handling of developments and has been warned against the consequences of ill-advised and controversial measures," Qassemi went on to say.

"The Danish ambassador announced that he has been recalled to Copenhagen for a series of consultations and pledged to convey Iran's protest and expectations," the spokesman said.
