Mogherini says EU will continue backing JCPOA'
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Aug 31, IRNA -- High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini on Friday reiterated EU's support for Iran nuclear deal known as JCPOA.
She further noted that Vienna meeting involving EU foreign and defense ministers discussed major international issues including Iran, Syria and Gaza.
Currently, Iran and its nuclear program have turned into the most significant concerns of the EU, she said, noting, "We discussed the issue during Vienna meeting and shared views on its details."
Despite US sanctions, EU will continue cooperation with Iran to salvage the 2015 nuclear deal, she stressed.
Recalling the IAEA's 12th report on Iran's compliance with the JCPOA, Mogherini said that the report indicates well that the county has adhered to its commitments under the deal.
This is a significant news for the EU and international community, she said.
EU will continue collaboration with all its members and other countries so that Iranians and Iranian expatriates can continue their trade and economic activities, the official said.
Vienna meeting also dealt with Syrian refugees and Idleb, as humanitarian situation in Idleb is catastrophic and worrisome, Mogherini said.
