Iran, Syria sign defensive, technical cooperation document

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian and Syrian defense ministries have signed a cooperation document in defensive and technical field.

Following detailed talks, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami and his Syrian counterpart Ali Abdullah Ayyoub signed the cooperation document to develop defensive military cooperation between the two countries.

Mentioning the signing of the cooperation document, General Hatami said, "The agreement will pave the way for developing the bilateral cooperation".

Referring to the strategic ties between Iran and Syria, General Hatami added, "Syria has put the era of war behind it and entered the era of reconstruction. So the agreement will define the areas of bilateral presence, participation, and cooperation in defense ties".

Ali Abdullah Ayyoub, for his part, said, "Thanks to Iran's supports and cooperation, that great victories were achieved against terrorist groups and their patrons".

Mentioning to the signing of the cooperation document, he added, "In the light of continuation of bilateral cooperation, we will secure our national interests and we will not allow any party and country to cause damage to the strong and firm relations of the two countries".
