There is no possibility to negotiate with US: Iran's FM spokesman

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi stressed that with this United States of America and the policies that the US has taken, certainly there in no possibility to negotiate and interact with it.

Speaking in his weekly press conference on Monday, Qassemi said, "US shows every day that it is unreliable".

Mentioning to the US hostile policies against Iran and its illegal withdrawal from the nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the spokesman added, "with this America and the policies that the US has taken, certainly there in no possibility to negotiate and interact with it".

Answering a question about a possibility of Iran –US war, Qassemi said, "I don't consider this as possible. I don't think that US loses its mind to try to invade Iran as a stronge state in the region which has proved its resistance against invaders".

Mentioning, it seems that Trump's hostile policies against Iran will go on, Qassemi added, "Iran is prepared for such actions from White House officials and join forces to foil all the hostile plots and policies of US and I believe that Iranian peop,e are the winners of this battle and one day Trump should revise his approach toward Iran and express his demands in other ways".

About the visit of Oman's Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah to Washington and speculation over whether the purpose of the trip was mediation between Iran and the United States, Qassemi said, "I have no idea about the content of the talks and the purpose of Mr. bin Alawi's visit to Washington".

"Iran and Oman have great bilateral relations and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif had also traveled to Muscat over the past weeks. I don't see any connection between these trips," he stated.

About Zarif's visit to Singapore and the purpose of the trip, Qassemi said, "Mr. Zarif will pay a visit to Singapore at the official invitation of the Asian country's government to attend the 51st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the foreign ministerial level".

"The main purpose of the visit is to sign the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation with ASEAN," he added.

"Before traveling to Singapore, Mr. Zarif will pay a visit to Sri Lanka. Actually, Iranian Foreign Minister will travel to Sri Lanka tomorrow (Tuesday) and after that, he will depart for Singapore during which he will hold bilateral talks with some of his counterparts," the spokesman went on to say.
