Spokesman: No war expected between Iran, US

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, July 30, IRNA -- Given the capability of Iran as a regional power and its courageous people who have proved themselves in the course of history, a war is not expected between Iran and the United States, Iran' Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Monday.

Qasemi made the remarks speaking at his weekly press conference when asked about the possibility of war between Iran and the United States.

The foreign ministry spokesman also ruled out claims by an Afghan Member of Parliament about Iran cooperating with Taliban and arming the group.

'Arming Afghan groups is not on Iran's agenda and we make efforts that Afghanistan, as a neighboring country, be stable, safe and developed,' Qasemi said.

Iran has made many negotiations in this regard and this is the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran for all the neighboring countries to help boost security in the region, he added.
