Iran unveils 10 upgraded Sukhoi Su- 22

Tehran (ISNA) – 10 Sukhoi Su- 22, modernized and upgraded by Aerospace experts of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iranian knowledge based companies, were unveiled and added to the Aerospace fleet during a ceremony on Wednesday where the chief commander of IRGC Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari and the Commander of IRGC Aerospace Force, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh were in attendance.
During the ceremony Jafari said, "Given the capabilities of IRGC Air Force, we decided to modernize and operationalize the available Sukhoi Su-22 aircrafts in Iran".
Hajizadeh said, "Enjoying the privileged features in flying, Sukhoi 22 however is not updated in some aspects. But thanks to Iranian experts, it got modernized and upgraded and joined IRGC Aerospace fleet".
"Now the Sukhoi Su-22 aircrafts can carry and exploit smart and precision-guided Cluster bombs, air to air missiles and transferring information system from drones in multi-kilometer long distance and in near future, air to surface precision-guided cruise system with 1500km range will be installed on the aircrafts," he added.
