IAEA chief: No JCPOA Violation by Iran

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Moscow, May 14, IRNA -- Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi said that the IAEA has found no case of violation of nuclear deal by Iran so far, a senior diplomat revealed.

Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Yukiya Amano in Sochi.

He said that Amano refrained to comment on the departure of the US from the JCPOA, but said that the agency is to continue its inspection work on the Iranian nuclear centers.

Ulyanov explained that the IAEA is a technical and non-political organization, so Amano refrained from commenting on the US departure from Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

He quoted Amano as saying that the agency is to continue inspection and verification work on nuclear program, because the UN Security Council and Board of Governors put its responsibility on IAEA shoulder.

According to the Kremlin Palace, President Putin in his meeting with Amano called function of IAEA acceptable, and added that the agency is working exactly upon its statute and at a professional level.
