Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Sunday.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China told Mr. Zarif, "I'm sure your visit aiming at defending Iranian nation's rights, peace and stability is very important".

Iran's foreign minister arrived in Beijing Sunday on the first leg of a diplomatic tour.

"I'm so glad that you choose Beijing as your first step of the diplomatic tour. By this visit, China and the other countries can be more familiar with Iran's opinions and views," Wang Yi said.

For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister expressed hope to get more transparent picture of the nuclear deal's future during these trips.

"In different situation, the readers of Iran and China have always paid attention to close relations and comprehensive strategic partnership" he said.

"I'm so glad that before starting the negotiations, we talked about developing bilateral relations with Chinese side and it is very important because Beijing is considered as Iran's first trading partner," Mr. Zarif added.

Mohammad Javad Zarif will later fly to Moscow and Brussels to consult with the remaining signatories to the 2015 agreement denounced by President Donald Trump.
