Putin, Merkel underline preserving Iran Deal
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, May 11, IRNA -- Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in a phone conversation underlined preserving Iran nuclear deal.
According to Kremlin website, the two leaders discussed the situation created by the United States' unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran's nuclear program.
"They pointed out the importance of the JCPOA for international and regional security."
"The two leaders also discussed the situation in Syria and preparations for Angela Merkel's working visit to Sochi scheduled for May 18," Kremlin reported.
US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Washington would pull out of Iran nuclear deal and reinstate nuclear sanctions on Iran.
This is while most world powers, including Russia, China, and the European Union have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of world peace and security.
