Gov't issues statement in reaction to US pullout of JCPOA
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, May 10, IRNA -- President Hassan Rouhani's Cabinet in a statement on Thursday called on the other parties to the JCPOA, especially three European states, to undertake necessary moves to safeguard it and implement their sides under the international agreemen unconditionally.
The statement has been issued following US President Donald Trump's unilateral exit from the deal.
The statement said that illegal exit of the US president from JCPOA is the last link of various cases of violations of the deal by the US, particularly after the hawkish president came to power.
'Cheap remarks of Trump against the Iranian nation which reveal extremity of his ignorance, idiocy and baseless allegations against the Islamic Republic befit the regime which has fanned the flames of extremism and terrorism in the Middle East and its Zionist allies have been committing excessive atrocity, human rights violation and aggression,' read the statement.
Strange to find, Trump in a ridiculous move attributed all to Islamic Republic, the statement said, noting that it is regrettable such a person rules over the civilized and peace-seeking nation of the US.
Still campaigning for White House, Trump expressed his hostility toward the agreement which is considered a kind of diplomatic victory internationally and even after coming to power not only took stance against JCPOA but also refused to fulfill US' side under the deal, it said.
JCPOA is a multilateral international deal confirmed by the United Nations resolution and unlike Trump's claim, it is not an agreement of the previous president to be terminated by his successor, it said.
US exit from JCPOA has not only discredited the country in the international scene but also questioned basics of international relations as well as credit of the agreements with Washington, posing a serious threat to world legal order.
Unlike US claims, Iran has always remained committed to international regulations, as it considers 'loyalty to promise' as one of the basic religious foundations and indisputable regulations of the international law, the statement said.
Baseless allegations and ridiculous propaganda have no place in JCPOA, especially as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has frequently verified Iran's adherence to the deal.
The Iranian Government statement further noted that the Iranian nation will continue their path of progress and development with peace of mind, as the government has considered all the arrangements for all conditions.
