US President Donald Trump has revealed his decision to pull out Washington from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), more widely known as the Iran nuclear deal.

Tehran has already devised a plan in response to the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement, Iran's government spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said.

He provided no further details concerning the content of Iran's plan, though added that the government had allocated funds to cope with possible scenarios pertaining to the nuclear agreement.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has warned Tehran of "severe consequences" in case the latter restarts its nuclear program.

The exchange of threats between Washington and Tehran began after the US president made public his intention to withdraw from the nuclear deal with Iran and to reimpose all the sanctions that had been lifted under the deal in exchange for Iran abandoning its attempts to acquire nuclear weapons and keeping its nuclear program peaceful.

Trump's move encountered considerable resistance among some European countries. The nuclear agreement was signed with Iran in 2015 after difficult negotiations within the P5+1 group, which includes the UN Security Council's five permanent members, China, France, Russia, the UK and the US, plus Germany.
