Foreign minister: Iran to examine future of JCPOA

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, May 9, IRNA -- Iran will examine the future of Iran nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

"In response to US persistent violations & unlawful withdrawal from the nuclear deal, I have been instructed by President Rouhani to spearhead a diplomatic effort to find out whether the remaining JCPOA parties can ensure its full benefits for Iran. Outcome will determine our response," Zarif wrote on his Twitter account.

US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Washington would pull out of Iran nuclear deal and reinstate nuclear sanctions on Iran.

This is while most world powers including Russia, China, and European Union have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of world peace and security.

Meanwhile, President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that he has ordered the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) to be ready for resuming nuclear enrichment at the industrial level.
