Iran ready for conditions after US withdrawal

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Anzali, Gilan Prov., May 2, IRNA -- Government Spokesman and Head of the Plan and Budget Organization Mohammad-Baqer Nobakht says Iran is prepared for conditions after the US withdrawal from the JCPOA.

Nobakht made the remarks in an address to a ceremony on the Teachers Day on Wednesday.

The US is likely to walk away from Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and 'we have to wait for different conditions in the country,' he said.

'We have paved the way and prepared necessary budget for that era,' he added.

He also expressed hope for Iranian teachers to write about government's policies as regards the JCPOA and lifting sanctions.

The US administration has done a great deal during past year to kill Iran nuclear deal.

Trump is expected to announce his decision regarding suspending sanctions against Iran and continuing the implementation of the JCPOA on May 12.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has already confirmed ten times Iran's commitment to the landmark July 2015 international deal.

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Tuesday that withdrawing from the NPT has been predicted in the treaty and the Islamic Republic of Iran will withdraw from the treaty if the other side scraps the nuclear deal.

When international agreements will be impractical due to illegal acts of some countries, there will be no reason to remain committed to such international pledges by other countries, he said.

In NPT, member-countries are authorized to withdraw from the treaty in case their interests are threatened, he added.

"In our tormented region, amidst the sounds of bombs, 'beautiful weapons' & fighter jet; Amidst the cries of pain & the calls to arm, only one voice speaks of dialogue & peace and puts diplomacy on the table. Proud that this voice is coming from Iran. From [Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad] Zarif," Nasri said.
