Nuclear development to start if US leaves Iran Deal: Lawmaker

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, May 1, IRNA -- If the US withdraws from the July 2015 nuclear deal, Iran will go ahead with its nuclear development less than a week, a senior member of Iranian Majlis (Parliament) said on Tuesday.

'From the beginning, they well knew that Iran was not on the way of building atomic bomb; however, they were to put pressure on the country, Akbar Ranjbarzadeh, a member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

'They know that if Iran becomes a developed country, it will turn into a role model for regional nations and then these countries will stand against the US,' the parliamentarian said.

'The US possible move to leave the Iran Deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will surely benefit Iran because the move will reveal Washington's disloyalty and its real image once again,' he added.

US President Donald Trump is o declare his decision on May 12 whether it will stay in the JCPOA and suspend anti-Iran sanctions or not.
