IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, April 18, IRNA -- Today, Ground Forces Aviation of the Iranian Army can triple the range of their combat helicopter-mounted missiles, a senior Iranian commander announced here on Wednesday.
All helicopters of Army Ground Forces Aviation are equipped with night vision imaging system, Brigadier General Kiumars Heidari, Commander of Ground Forces of the Iranian Army, told reporters on the sidelines of National Army Day ceremonies underway nationwide.
He went on to say that the process of helicopters' overhaul has dramatically been accelerated.
In critical conditions, people pin hopes on Ground Forces Aviation of the Iranian Army, the commander said while talking about his forces' capabilities.
Iran's National Army Day ceremonies began on Wednesday morning in the presence of the country's President Hassan Rouhani at the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini.
Thirty years ago on the same day, the US attacked Iran's oil platforms of Nasr and Salman in the Persian Gulf and the Army forces deployed on the platforms were martyred as a result. Imam Khomeini named the day after the Army's sacrifices in defending the country against the aggression.
