President Rouhani: Iran's adherence to JCPOA rests upon compliance of other parties

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Feb 6, IRNA -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that the adherence of Iran to Iran nuclear deal – known as JCPOA – relies on the compliance of other parties to the deal.

President Rouhani made the remarks during a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Noting that as long as the deal is respected by the other parties Iran will remain committed to the deal, the president said that the destructive measures by the other sides have to be halted.

President Rouhani also touched upon the ongoing crisis in Syria, saying the continuation of tension in the country will not benefit anyone.

'The Islamic Republic of Iran is opposed to the presence of foreign forces in Syria without the permission of the country's government and nation,' the president said.

The Russian president, for his part, said that Moscow is ready to deepen ties with Tehran in all areas.

Noting that the nuclear deal signed between Iran and the six world powers was of special significance, President Putin said that Russia believes any effort to undermine this deal will prove harmful and dangerous for the region.

The Russian President said that Russia as Iran believes that it is only the Syrian nation that have to determine the future of their country.
