Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian defense ministry spokesman dismissed reports on holding "intensive and very serious dialogue" on Tehran's missile defense program, emphasizing that the country's missile program is not negotiable.

In a statement on Wednesday, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi categorically rejected as baseless the claim by the British daily The Financial Times that Tehran had, in a recent Brussels meeting, agreed to hold "an intensive and very serious dialogue" on its missile program and regional issues.

"The policy and stand of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the missile defense program is crystal clear and other countries are well aware of it," he said.

"Iran's stand has not change at all despite the propaganda campaigns, threats, stands and points of view of the United States and the others. As it has been announced many time, Iran's missile program is completely defensive and deterrent and will not use against any country and making baseless claims will bring no change in this fundamental and key stand of Iran," the spokesman added.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will not allow any country to interfere in its internal affairs and defense policies, especially the country's missile program," Qassemi underlined.

He also called Iran's policy in the region as constructive and stabilizing one aiming at further promoting the peace and security in the region and across the world.

"If extremists and ill-wishers can't help promoting the stability and security in the region, they are not allowed to ignore Iran's role in fighting terrorism, insecurity and instability and to further fuel chaos and insecurity and spread terrorism in the region," Qassemi said.
