Iran missile program non-negotiable: Spokesman
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Jan 17, IRNA -- Iran's missile defense program is non-negotiable, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Wednesday.
'All know that Iran's missile defense program is not negotiable under any circumstances,' Qasemi said on Wednesday in reaction to the Financial Times Daily's alleged report on EU-Iran talks concerning the issue.
He underlined that Iran's stance regarding its missile program has not changed, adding that the program is for deterrence.
Qasemi said that Iran will not allow other states to interfere in its domestic affairs.
The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman pointed to Iran's constructive role in the region, and said that ill-wishers and hardliners are not allowed to ignore Iran's role in fighting terrorism and they will be permitted to destabilize the region.
Financial Times newspaper published a report yesterday and claimed that 'The German, French and British foreign ministers – together with Federica Mogherini, the EU's foreign policy chief – agreed with Iran to hold an "intensive and very serious dialogue" on Tehran's missile program and regional influence, the foreign ministry in Berlin said.
'Sigmar Gabriel, Germany's foreign minister, briefed Rex Tillerson, his US counterpart, about the plan after the European officials met their Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif in Brussels last week,' the alleged report by Financial Times added.
