Iran says Rouhani rejected Trump's request for meeting

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi announced that Iranian President rejected a meeting requested by his American counterpart in the sideline of the 72nd UN General Assembly in New York.

Answering to the question if US President Donald Trump had wanted to meet the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani while in New York, Qassemi said, "Such a meeting was suggested by the American side but was not accepted by Mr. Rouhani".

This issue was published in a note by a news agency.

He went on to dismiss other speculations mentioned in the note, adding "all speculations about other individuals, particularly the one about the measures by French President Emanuel Macron, are completely false and cannot be confirmed."
