Inspecting Iran's nuclear sites possible only under certain conditions: Iranian official

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Sep 13, IRNA -- JCPOA has set out conditions for inspection of Iran's nuclear sites and no country can easily demand for the inspection, said the head of Iran's Strategic Studies Council Kamal Kharrazi.

Kharrazi was talking to reporters Tuesday in a joint press conference with ex-Australian Foreign Minister Gareth Evans.

'Nuclear sites are part of Iran's national security, a fact which has also been stipulated in Iran nuclear deal also known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA),' said Kharrazi.

He pointed to US as an unpredictable country, but added there is no obstacle on the way of American firms to invest in Iran.

'Even countries such as Australia and Germany which have always been US allies, now have problems with the United States since the country is an unpredictable one,' he added.

'If US withdraws JCPOA, Iran will be ready for any scenario and has several plans for any option,' Kharrazi said.

Meanwhile, Evans stressed on the fact that Iran and Australia enjoy strong relations.

Despite some differences between the two countries, Iran and Australia have never cut ties, he said.

He referred to Iran as a regional power supporting peace and stability.

If President Trump withdraws JCPOA, Australia will not support the policy, he said.

We support JCPOA, since it was an effective deal and removed many international concerns, ex-Australian diplomat noted.

He went on to say that no one has the right to tear JCPOA up.
