Tehran (ISNA) – Iran inaugurated on Saturday a production line for a new version of an air defense missile dubbed 'Sayyad-3', an upgrade to previous versions of the missile.
The commander of the Iranian Army's air defense force Farzad Esmaili said during a ceremony that the missile is "a completely indigenous technology".
The range of Sayyad-3 missile is 120 kilometers (some 75 miles) and is capable of hitting targets at altitudes of up to 27 kilometers (17 miles).
An upgraded version of a home-made air defense missile, the Sayyad 3 or Hunter 3 is designed to be mounted on the mobile version of S-200 air defense system. The air defense system is also equipped with locally-manufactured fire control radar, dubbed Ofoq.
