IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Isfahan, May 24, IRNA -- Beit-ol-Moqaddas-29 military exercises started with the attendance of Deputy Commander of Army Ground Forces Brigadier General Nozar Nemati on Wednesday in Nasrabad city, Isfahan province.
The drill is being held on the occasion of the 35th liberation anniversary of southern city of Khorramshahr on May 24.
Various units such as infantry, artillery, quick response, special forces, drones and helicopters are demonstrating their strength.
Occupied by Iraqi troops in the early days of the eight-year Iraq's imposed war against Iran (1980-1988), Khorramshahr was finally liberated on May 24, 1982, after two days of heavy fighting and sacrifices made by the Iranian forces.
Iran has made major breakthrough in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in developing important military equipment and systems in recent years.
