Army: Pakistan, Iran enjoy strong brotherly ties

Islamabad, May 10, IRNA -- Pakistani army says Iran and Pakistan enjoy strong brotherly and historical relations which will continue to grow in the future.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Army spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor said that Iran and Pakistan have a border coordination mechanism which will improve in the future.

"Our relations with Iran are not bad, Iran is our neighbor and we enjoy good and historic relations with Iran and Inshallah they will continue to grow in future," he viewed.

Army media wing ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations) Director General went on to say that 'if there is some tension on our borders then please understand the plots of our common enemies'.

"Pakistan has been passing through a difficult phase for last ten years, but now we are moving towards a better future and the anti-Pakistani elements are playing their last cards to destabilize Pakistan and its borders," Major General Ghafoor pointed out.

He also mentioned that recently Pakistan Army Chief had a good meeting Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and Ambassador of Iran.

Last week, Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in a meeting with Iranian foreign minister had assured him that Pakistan will take effective measures to improve security along the border with Iran.
