Iran Army to hold major maneuvers

Tehran, April 12, IRNA -- Iran Army Ground Force is to hold specialized and field drills, said the commander of the forces Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari on Wednesday.
"During the drills, exercises suitable for several threats will be practiced," Brigadeir General Heidari said in a press conference on the eve of the National Army Day (April 18).
Establishment of four production lines of an array of military equipment as well as major and tactical weaponry parts is due this year that meets the military and arms requirements of the ground forces, he said.
The commander also announced the establishment of a rapid reaction brigade in the Ground Force, stressing upon having in possession of agile and expert units as one of the promoting means of deterrence and the power of the country.
According to the Brigadier General Heidari, a squadron planes was also established in the Ground Force and equipped with techniques and tactics of the advanced units.
Drones are presently one of the efficient defensive and offensive equipment, said the commnader.
He added that the Ground Force has also established numerous armored assault brigade and anti-armor brigade.
