Trump choice for secretary of defense says US should respect JCPOA
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
New York, Jan 13, IRNA -- Donald Trump's choice for secretary of defense Gen. James Mattis said US should respect the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action inked between Iran and G5+1(US, UK, France, Russia and China plus Germany).
'When America gives her word, we have to live up to it,' Mattis said while expressing his view about the landmark nuclear agreement in an address to a meeting with the US Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday, Western media reported.
JCPOA was signed in 2015 between Iran and the world six major states ending more than a decade of dispute about Iran's peaceful nuclear program.
Iran has repeatedly announced that its nuclear activities aim at generating power and for medical uses.
Power transition in the US will take place on January 20 when the 45th American President Donald Trump takes office.
Winning the electoral vote on November 8, Trump was elected as the next US president while his rival Hillary Clinton won the popular vote.
