IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Karaj, Alborz province, Aug 2, IRNA -- Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said in this city in northwestern Tehran on Tuesday that supplying the Navy equipment would pave the way for presence of Navy forces in the international waters.
Speaking in a local gathering, Sayyari highlighted the country's self-sufficiency in the area of manufacturing state-of-the-art military hardware, saying that domestic technicians are capable of designing and manufacturing all the equipment the Navy requires.
Sayyari also emphasized the need for Navy forces' access to modern technologies.
The commander also made assurances that development of the needed equipment in the Navy is high on the agenda in line with the recommendations of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to promote self-sufficiency.
In recent years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.
Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threats to other countries.
