Iran to hold joint navy drills with India on Friday

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said the country is to hold joint navy drills with India on Friday.

Talking to reporters on Wednesday, he said the one-day drill will be held in the east of the Hormuz Strait.

He said two Indian warships will be present in Iranian waters for three days for the drill.

Two Indian destroyers docked at southern port, ferrying the waters of Hormuzgan province - the first zone of the Iranian Navy.

In the welcoming ceremony, Rear-Admiral Hossein Azad, the commander of the First Navy Zone, said that the presence of naval forces from different countries, particularly regional countries, conveys the message that preservation of sustainable peace and security in the sea is possible only through active partnership of the regional countries.
