Top navy commander stresses need for presence in high seas

Bandar Abbas, May 25, IRNA -- Commander of the first zone of the Navy said on Wednesday that the more the frequencies of Iran's presence in the sea will lead to less interventionist policies of trans-regional countries in the region.
Rear Admiral Hossein Azad made the remarks in a banquet ceremony on board an Indian destroyer that entered the Iranian waters on Tuesday.
The fact that the second Indian naval fleet is visiting Iran within a year indicates good cooperation between the two countries, the commander said.
A powerful and independent Iran benefits the entire region and on the other hand a developed India is good for all the regional countries, he added.
Two Indian frigate destroyers entered Iranian waters on Tuesday and berthed in the southern province of Hormuzgan.
