Commander: Armed forces well-prepared to destroy Takfiri terrorists

Tehran, April 15, IRNA -- Commander of Army Ground Forces Brigadier-General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said on Friday that Intelligence personnel of the Army and IRGC are involved in surveillance of Takfiri terrorists and the Armed Forces are well-prepared to destroy Daesh terrorists.
He made the remarks at Tehran's Friday Prayers ceremony on the eve of Army Day (April 17).
Pourdastan said that Takfiri terrorists have posed threat to Iranian national security, adding that Iranian Armed Forces will never see Daesh surprise attack, because the Intelligence personnel of the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps are closely monitoring movements of the terror group.
He said that wars in Afghanistan and Iraq practically aimed at Iran, but westerners after 14 years got to know about Iran's defense capabilities and were forced to change their policies toward arming Takfiri groups.
The Commander said that the US government tried to isolate Iran by the economic sanctions and shutting down all the economic corridors.
After victory of Islamic Revolution, the army had done two main jobs, one help to establish the Islamic Revolutlion Guards Corps (IRGC), the late Imam Khomeini issued decree to the effect and second confrontation with counter-revolutionaries.
General Pourdastan presented a report on activities of Army during US-backed imposed war by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein 1980-1988 .
'The Army has always stood by the IRGC in carrying out momentous expeditions.'
He said that from 48,000 martyrs of military forces, 46,000 are from Army.
