Iran unveils first indigenous amphibious aircraft

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran's first home-made amphibious aircraft was unveiled by Vice-President for Science Sorena Sattari in Abbas Port, southern Iran.

Iran joined countries which hold the know-how of designing and building the naval aircraft such as US, Russia, Germany and China with designing the 6-seat amphibious aircraft, he said.

Sattari said that Iran with 2.000 km water border in south, 600 km water border in southern islands and 700 km water border in north needs border guarding, naval petrol, imaging borders and needs different products including flying objects with ability of landing and taking off from water surface.

The product can be used for surveillance, taking images in water and land environments, naval petrol to battle goods smuggling, monitoring and controlling rigs and oil pipes in seas as well as moving divers, rescue operations in water and land environments and fire fighting, he added.
