Araqchi: Kerry ensures US will honor context of nuclear deal

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Dec 21, IRNA -- Head of team in charge of JCPOA said US secretary of state John Kerry reaffirmed US commitment to context of JCPOA in his letter to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

'The letter is signed by the US secretary of state because the letters signed by the heads of states require abiding legally and politically for countries, but this letter ensures that implementing the US Congress visa waiver reform will not affect the nuclear deal as mechanisms to annul such effects have been devised,' said the deputy FM for legal and international affairs.

Asked about his previous comment if the bill be ratified Iran will demand the establishment of a joint committee to survey whether the JCPOA has been breached or not, Araqchi said that there are many trivial details, technical and legal points which are being finalized by technicians and it is passing through tough and breathtaking days.

Araqchi referred to the enmities observed against the JCPOA on the other side from the very first day both in the US and in Israel, not to mention the sabotage against it in Iran.

Inserting an article in the 2016 US budget bill and amending the visa requirements to review the visa waiver reform with 38 countries was the last effort made by the opponents of the JCPOA in America, stressed Araqchi.
