TEHRAN (ISNA)- Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan said the country would never start a war.
"We will use all of our power to boost our defense capability, but we will never start a war, because our policy is defense," he said.
He further warned that the country would give a deadly blow in case it receives the first blow from the enemy.
"If enemies are unable to do anything against us is because of our potential," he said.
Americans came to our region to confront us directly after September 11 attack, but "they changed their policy because of our great deterrence potential," he said.
"We are facing proxy wars today," Pourdastan said, adding terrorists are implementing demands of arrogant powers.
The Iranian commander further continued that the ISIL is now present in the region on behalf of Zionist regime and US and Boko Haram is doing the same thing in Nigeria.
