TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated that Iran needs to be a powerful country in terms of military.

War may be "imposed on us sometime", therefore, "we need to be strong in terms of military," he said in his speech at Sharif Poly Technique University in Tehran on the occasion of University Students Day.

"Some think that this government is the government of smile, talks and negotiations and is not after improving military power," he said referring to his government, adding that the government has worked enough on defense and strategic weapons over past two years.

He said negotiations do not mean Iran has stopped improving its defense power. "We have to always be ready for war, because war does not come when we are 100 percent ready."

Rouhani noted that Iran test fired its best missile concurrent with signing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
