Larijani: Iran contributes to regional security
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Dec 6, IRNA -- The Islamic Republic of Iran contributes to regional security and tranquility, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said Sunday.
Larijani made the remarks to the formal session of Majlis today.
Larijani said Iran calls on regional countries to exercise honest cooperation for international campaign against terrorism.
Regional countries, he said, should carefully examine the events happened over the past several years; then, they should correct the past mistakes.
He said that the regional governments should not create a new problem, instead, they are expected to make due cooperation.
On nuclear issues, Larijani said Iranian nuclear program has made no diversion from the civilian and peaceful purpose acknowledged by the latest report of Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano.
The latest IAEA report on Iran released on December 2 indicated that the West has had no excuse for imposing sanctions on Iran, added the speaker.
He further urged the IAEA Board of Governors to close the nuclear case and pave the way for implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
According to the agreement, better known as JCPOA, limits will be put on Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all nuclear-related economic and financial sanctions against the country.
Iran continues nuclear activities under the supervision of the IAEA, Director General of the IAEA Yukiya Amano said in his latest report.
