'King of the Sea', anti-submarine chopper, joins Navy

Bandar Abbas, Dec 1, IRNA -- Three hardware, SH-3D anti-submarine helicopter known as 'king of the sea', Tunb destroyer and a Fokker cargo plane joined Iran's Navy on Tuesday in a ceremony attended by Navy commander Rear-Admiral Habibollah Sayyari.

Speaking in the ceremony, Sayyari said that supplying the Navy with the three modern hardware was made in line with the guidelines of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei calling for modernization of the Navy hardware consistent with the dignity of the Iranian nation.

Sayyari said that the Navy is closely monitoring all moves of the enemy across the Indian Ocean and is capable of thwarting any kind of threat.

Iran will not allow any power to pose a threat on its borders and national interests, Sayyari said.

He said that the Navy's 36th fleet ended a mission to the Gulf of Aden on Sunday and the 37th fleet of the Navy departed for expedition to ensure safety of international navigation at the free seas.
