Supreme Leader lauds Navy success to enforce int'l law of the Sea

Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday lauded the significant efforts of the Iranian Navy to enforce International Law of the Sea.
The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with the commander and senior staff members of the Navy.
The meeting took place to mark the Navy Day November 28. It commemorates the 1980 Operation Morvarid, a major Iranian Naval victory during Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).
The Supreme Leader advised the Navy to continue with development plan in light of the need to safeguard safety of the international navigation at free Seas, the criterion for progress of national aconomy.
A competent and agile human force who make use of optimum management with firm stand and reliance on Almighty God should seek to attain its significant and historical stands to serve national dignity, Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Supreme Leader also highlighted the significant achievements of the Iranian Navy and said the force has attained remarkable success and development but it is far away from desirable status.
Wide access to free waters and four-corners of the world and the possibility to defend the country from Sea are among the blessings of the Sea which all should be heeded by people and the officials, the Supreme Leader said.
It is among the duties of the Iranian Navy to overcome difficulties and bring about a promising future, said the Supreme Leader.
Referring to the importance of Sea of Oman and Makran coasts, the Supreme Leader said the region is very sensitive for the Iranian navy to carry out missions and it has been reminded to the country's officials and the government, Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Management and good human resources lead to miracle, said the Supreme Leader adding that the past experience indicates that it is quite possible that irrespective of all shortcomings and even single handedly to conduct a good management.
Referring to significant success of the Iranian forces in defeating the enemy during 1980-1988 war with Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, the Supreme Leader said today the might of Iranian nation and its armed forces have increased dramatically and the prospects are very promising.
Before the Supreme Leader's remarks, Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear-Admiral Habibollah Sayyari briefed the Supreme Leader on the activities and success of the Navy forces and underlined that they spare no efforts to attain a remarkable status in line with the dignity of the Iranian nation.
