JCPOA not binding, two parties take it voluntarily, Guardian Council
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Oct 17, IRNA -- The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is not regarded as a binding, the two parties will implement it voluntarily, says the Guardian Council speaker.
'Based on this perception Iran's Parliament did not discuss the details of JCPOA and the Guardian Council also followed suit,' said Nejatollah Ebrahimian on Saturday in a news conference, saying that the Guardian Council solely judged the Parliament's ratification of the JCPOA.
As the JCPOA is a political deal between governments and it is not binding and the two parties will implement it voluntarily, said Ebrahimian.
The JCPOA has not been discussed as it deemed a political agreement and a deal requiring the Islamic Republic of Iran and the P5+1 countries will reciprocate actions taken by one another.
'The approval by the parliament also urges the voluntary nature of the actions,' he said, adding that, as announced by one of the officials of P5+1, whenever they deem it necessary they would stop fulfilling their obligations. Iran's government will also have the right to halt its voluntary actions.
According to the regulations, the executive body will implement the deal under supervision of the Supreme National Security Council.
