Salehi upbeat about future of JCPOA
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Oct 17, IRNA -- Head of the Atomic Energy Agency of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi on Saturday gave upbeat report about the future of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action struck between Iran and the six world powers on July 14.
Salehi made the remarks speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a preliminary meeting to International (Munich) Security Conference held at Institute for Political and International Studies.
'Fortunately there are not many problems still remaining and in the second half of December we will witness the JCPOA yielding fruit,' Salehi said.
He said that the sanctions will be terminated officially but it will take one or two months that termination of sanctions will become operational.
Referring to a statement issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Thursday confirming Iran's cooperation with the UN atomic agency, Salehi said that it was a major step to clear ambiguities in different areas.
He expressed hope that the final assessment of the IAEA Board of Governors on December 15 would lead to implementation of the JCPOA.
The preliminary meeting to International (Munich) Security Conference was held in Tehran on Saturday attended by foreign ministers of Iran, Germany, Afghanistan, Oman, Lebanon and the prime minister of Iraqi Kurdistan autonomous administration.
60 other top-ranking official, including Helga Schmid, the deputy EU foreign policy chief, were also present at the meeting.
