Supreme Leader unveils enemy's conspiracy to topple governing system

Tehran, Oct 12, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Monday that the enemy aims to topple the governing system by resorting to soft war and undermine beliefs of the people.

The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with officials and directors of national media and members of the Supervisory Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the hegemonic power embarked on soft war with Iran, a well-planned scheme to undermine the beliefs of the people and the confidence they placed in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Supreme Leader underlined the exceptional role of the national media in the serious battle and said that IRIB must adopt vigilant approach to discharge its professional obligation to enlighten the public vis-a-vis the conspiracy.

The Supreme Leader invited thinkers, the passionate and motivated individuals to carefully study and examine dimensions of the soft war and said that in the soft war the same goals of the hard war are followed but in a more comprehensive and deeper way.

The Supreme Leader said that contrary to the hard war, the soft war conveys no declaration of war, the domains of offensive by the soft war is not tangible in certain cases, it deals the blow on the other party while the target community is unaware of the such an offensive.

'The hard battles usually provoke sentiments of people and forge unity and national integration, whereas the soft war eliminates the motivation for confrontation and prepares the ground for escalation of differences.'

Highlighting the dangers of the soft war compared to the hard war, Ayatollah Khamenei said soft war does not concern Iran only. As for Iran, the main target of the soft war is well-thought and well-calculated, aiming dissolution of the Islamic Republic of Iran and change of the mindset of the people keeping the appearance by superficial shape intact.

The Supreme Leader said that undermining the mindset and resolve aim to target the motivations, slogans, revolutionary values and the big goals.

In framework of the goals of the enemy soft war, the name of the Islamic Republic will remain a clergy atop of the governing system, but, what's important is that Iran must follow the US lead and that of the Zionists and the global power structure

Iran's Leader said that the government and people are the main targets of such a soft war. 'As for the soft war plans aiming officials, I will speak to them but the main subjects of the soft war are the people, especially the elite, the academics, students, the youth and social activists.'

'They wish to influence people and change a wide spectrum of their belief, especially those of the young adults and that of the elites. The religious, political and cultural beliefs of people are the targets,' said the Supreme Leader.

'Our people have a set of ideological beliefs relating to religion, family, man and woman, independence, campaign against aliens, Islamic democracy and different cultural issues. The other party tries to manipulate and/or change the beliefs.'

Among other goals of enemy in the soft war are recourse of beliefs of the past, warned the Supreme Leader, adding, 'Our people have some beliefs in the former corrupt and despotic regime and the soft war aims to portray the ugly, indecent and dark past as brilliant and nice. Through changing beliefs to the past, they want to conclude that there had been no need to Islamic Revolution to remove the past.'

The Ayatollah went on to caution that change of belief in the future and in the present time is among other goals of the soft war.

'The enemies want to make today's youth believe that current conditions of the country are source of shame and it is impossible to attain progress in the future; so doing, they wish to deprive the young generation of any jubilation, freshness, and the endeavor for acquisition of science and hope in the future.'

Among other objectives of the soft war are initiating the fake beliefs among the youth in the world, especially the US and Europe and portraying the developed states as in peace, safe and without problem, the Supreme Leader said, adding that the main and ultimate goal of the soft war are internal dissolution of the Islamic Republic of Iran through change of beliefs and floating the faith of people, especially of the young adults.

Referring to the hardware and software facilities of enemy in the soft war, the Supreme Leader said all the growing advances in the virtual environment serve materialization of the objectives of the soft war. More important than the hardware advances and facilities is the large squad of the intellectual, political, literary, and social elites, of the distinguished activists of the social networks and of various arts branches, serving as powerful and influential software backing for materialization of the soft war goals.'

The Supreme Ayatollah said they are fully serious and well-planned to follow up their complicated plans but 'we lag behind in this respect.'

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei said the most important thing that national media can do for materialization of the objectives vis-a-vis the enemies' soft war is reaching fundamental, correct and realistic analysis of the domestic, regional and global situation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

'The analysis will give an organization to minds and decisions in different managerial systems and organizational bodies, serving as basis for all activities.'

Referring to abundant problems, bloody civil wars and even recourse to certain contemporary revolutions of the world to the former regimes, Ayatollah Khamenei said Iran's present situation should be compared with the US about 400 years after the important declaration of independence of the country and also with situation of France after four decades of French Great Revolution so that Iran's remarkable progress are better understood.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the aliens' attempt to tarnish the Iranian real image should be taken into account, bearing in mind that to materialize the soft war objectives, they introduce Iran to the world people and even to Iranians themselves in an inverted manner, as their media image of the world is fully hostile in nature.

The Supreme Leader proposed the national media directors and officials to compare the affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran with certain regional states, that were dominated by the US in the past four decades.

Ayatollah Khamenei said such a comparison will show what the surrender will bring and what blessings the resistance will bring, on the other hand.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the IRIB is on the forefront and active in confronting the soft war and the directors and staff of the national media are the soldiers of the soft war.
