President Rouhani: No power can affect Tehran-Beijing relations/Xi: Iran is China's strategic partner

President Hassan Rouhani sat down with the Chinese President Xi Jinping late on Monday in New York and talked about Tehran-Beijing ties, as well as China's significant role in reaching the nuclear agreement.
Dr Rouhani, in this meeting, said that he was happy to reach the agreement with the help of China and other countries. "The Islamic Republic of Iran will not forget its friends which held good relations with it at the hard time of sanctions and we are sure that our relations with China is such that no power can affect the good relationship between the two countries" added Rouhani.
Touching on the implementation of the JCPOA, President Rouhani said: "From the first day of implementation, we need to make sure that all of the all issues will be implemented, including lift of sanction and peaceful nuclear cooperation".
"We hope that Shanghai Cooperation Organisation understandings of creating 7 workgroups be operationalized soon" added Rouhani.
Speaking on post-JCPOA Iran's willingness to expand ties with China, he said that both countries can cooperate more on different areas such as construction of industrial and technology parks, as well as infrastructure.
Iran and China can strike long-term deals in energy sector, said Rouhani adding: "We are ready to cooperate with China on the very important plan of the Silk Road, as well as other sectors like transit, expanding the Chabahar port, and transferring the railroad from Khorasan province of Iran".
On the need to stop terrorism and extremism is the ME and East Asia, President Rouhani said: "Extremism and violence are big threats for both regions and this requires us to both use our shared experiences and cooperate in every aspect".
"We are witnessing a catastrophic humanitarian situation in Yemen today and China can help to solve the issue with a philanthropic point of view" said Rouhani.
Xi, in this meeting, talked about the good relationship between Iran and China so far, and said: "Iran and China can expand ties with more mutual cooperation and bring about more welfare for the people of both countries".
Speaking on the results of the nuclear agreement and its fruitful regional and global upshot, Xi continued: "We are ready to have more long-term strategic relationship with Iran in the framework of the joint commission on trade".
Announcing his intention to visit Iran in 2016 to upgrade ties, the Chinese President said: "Iran and China share the same opinion on a lot of important international and regional issues and Iran is considered as a trustable partner for China".
"China has always thrown weight on Iran peaceful nuclear program and the two countries can cooperate on the existing potentials in other areas such as road construction, railway, and energy" said Xi, adding: "Iran, as a highly influential country in the region can peacefully solve the Yemen problem and we are willing to help Iran in this regard".
