A senior Iranian commander says the military's ground forces will nip any threat against the country in the bud.
The Iranian Armed Forces are in a state of high preparedness, said Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan as quoted by IRNA.
"Today, the main duty of the Armed Forces is to improve the combat capability of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Army," he added.
The commander emphasized that such an important task will be fulfilled by relying on domestically-manufactured arms, the military personnel's strong faith, the use of new techniques and tactics in proxy wars and asymmetric warfare, not to mention war games.
The Armed Forces are currently capable of giving a crushing response to enemies seeking to deal a blow to the Islamic Republic, Pourdastan pointed out.
He said the Iranian Armed Forces' defense might would bar enemies from conducting any act of aggression against the country.
In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
Iran has also conducted major military drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and state-of-the-art equipment.
The Islamic Republic maintains that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
Armed Forces' full readiness for anti-Daesh fight
Pourdastan said the Iranian Armed Forces are fully prepared to counter the Daesh terrorist group in border areas.
"There is no need for concern over threats by the Daesh terrorist Takfiri group in the country's eastern and western parts," the commander added.
He said Daesh terrorists cannot infiltrate into Iran's borders thanks to the wise guidelines of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation's support for the fully-prepared Armed Forces.
The Iranian commander also warned against Daesh terrorists' plot to distort the image of Islam.
