UNSC Resolution clears Iran from charge of threat to int'l peace
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, July 23, IRNA -- President Hassan Rouhani said on Thursday that adoption of the Resolution 2231 by the Security Council cleared Iran the charge of threat to the international peace and security.
Speaking to a national conference, President Rouhani asserted that the nuclear deal sends a message to the international community that the weapons should be laid down forever.
'The most important message of nuclear agreement is that the most complex problems will be solved at the negotiating table,' he noted.
'The Iranian people believes that they can resolve the regional and international dilemmas through wisdom,' he said.
In 2012, the Security Council invoked Chapter Seven of the UN Charter for imposing sanctions on Iran.
Chapter Seven of the UN Charter deals with international peace and security.
