TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian envoy to the UN Gholam-Ali Khoshroo said the UN Security Council Resolution 2231 reiterates peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program.
"The Resolution 2231 shows good development and a fundamental change for Iran's peaceful activities over the last 10 years," he said in his speech in the UN Security Council.
"The resolution .… shows an important change and a fundamental shift in the process of investigating Iran's peaceful nuclear program over the last 10 years."
The 15-member United Nations Security Council on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing a document Iran and major world powers recently finalized on Tehran's nuclear program.
He further said that the UNSC new approach 'helped us chose the best solution', end an unnecessary crisis and obtain important achievements for all involved sides as well as the entire international community.
Iranian UN envoy said that Iran hopes that Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the Resolution 2231 could promise opening a new chapter in bilateral relations between Iran and the UN Security Council as well as G5+1.
He also said that Iran would definitely live up to the JCPOA commitments.
