US has to build confidence to reach agreement: Zarif

Tehran, April 28, IRNA -- To reach a comprehensive nuclear agreement, the United States has to take practical and confidence-building measures, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.
Zarif made the remark in a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida.
The meeting was held on Monday on the sidelines of the 2015 Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference in New York on April 28 to May 9.
Elaborating on nuclear talks between Iran and the six world powers, Zarif said Iran does not accept uncertain and unsustainable situation, stressing that the US has to take practical measures in order to reach a comprehensive agreement.
About Tehran-Tokyo relations, Zarif said he sees bright future for bilateral ties between the two countries.
He added Iran is ready to have close cooperation with the Japanese side in the area of nuclear safety and nuclear disarmament.
On regional questions, the Iranian foreign minister urged all nations to find diplomatic solutions for regional crises and fight with joint threats.
For his part, the Japanese foreign minister stressed the need to hold political talks between Japan and Iran and review ways to boost bilateral economic relations.
Referring to the 70th anniversary of the atomic attack to Japan by US forces that killed more than 100,000 people during the World War Two, Kishida expressed his country's readiness to further cooperation with the international bodies in the issues of nuclear disarmament and use of peaceful nuclear technology.
