Iran welcomes Putin's decree on S-300

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran hailed Russian President Vladimir Putin's decree for lifting ban on S-300 missile systems delivery to Iran.

"The decree suggests the political will of leaders of the two countries (Iran and Russia) to develop and improve the level of mutual cooperation in all fields," said Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan.

"Expanding bilateral ties and boosting cooperation in different areas with neighboring states can work effectively in establishing sustainable stability and security in the region."

He also said cross-regional threats and Takfiri's increased terrorist activities rise necessity of deepening cooperation, and has always been one of the main point in Iran-Russia ties.

Russian Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu visited Iran on January 19 to sign a defense deal with Iran.

The two sides also stressed settling S-300 missile system issue.
