IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Bushehr, March 2, IRNA -- Managing Director of Bushehr power plant said on Monday that the plant has produced 11 billion kilowatt/hour electricity since it was put into operation.
Hossein Darakhshandeh told IRNA that the electricity output was distributed through national grid.
He reminded that the plant with 1,000 megawatts capacity was connected to the national grid primarily on September 2011 and on September 2012 it reached its full 100 percent capacity.
Meanwhile, Darakhshandeh said on Sunday that the plant ceased operation from 23:00 hour on Sunday March 1, 2015.
He said that upon planning the national grid does not need electricity output of Bushehr power plant for two mnths.
It can operate during peak of consumption season in summer, he said.
The official said that the plant needs to replace fuel in September, when consumption is decreasing in the country.
He added that Bushehr nuclear power plant needs a composite of 163 fuels, 54 of which should be replaced every year.
The plant operation ceased in February 2014 until early July to replace fuel, for periodical technical inspections and basic maintenance and semi-basic repairs and then it started operation with 700 megawatts capacity.
The power plant located 20 kilometers south of Bushehr city.
It is the sole nuclear power plant of Iran. Two extra power plants will be set up next to the reactor in Bushehr.
